Telangana police fatally shot Riaz, a notorious criminal, near a city hospital when he attempted to seize a constable’s firearm and open fire. DGP Shivadar Reddy stated that Riaz tried to grab the weapon from AR policemen guarding his hospital room. The DGP emphasized that the police had to resort to firing to prevent potential loss of life.
Riaz was the main suspect in the killing of Constable Pramod, whom he fatally stabbed while being escorted to the police station. Following an extensive manhunt involving nine special police teams, Riaz was captured in an abandoned lorry cabin near Sarampur village on the outskirts of Nizamabad. Multi-Zone IG Chandrasekhar Reddy was tasked with overseeing the situation in Nizamabad, and the DGP instructed officials to provide necessary assistance to the constable’s family.
Having a criminal record with over 30 cases, including thefts and robberies, Riaz had been imprisoned around 10 to 11 times. A reward of Rs 50,000 was offered for information leading to his arrest.
