“Librarian’s Suicide Tragedy Linked to Unpaid Salary Delay”

A tragic incident occurred at the “Aarivu Kendra” (Knowledge Centre) in Karnataka’s Kalaburagi district where a 40-year-old librarian reportedly took her own life due to financial distress. The librarian, identified as Bhagyavathi, was living with her husband, who worked as a coconut trader, and their two children in a rented house. The family was struggling to make ends meet as Bhagyavathi had not received her salary for three months.

Facing mounting financial pressure, Bhagyavathi left behind a suicide note before ending her life. Authorities from Malakhed station initiated an investigation into the incident at the library premises. A police official stated that the family initially hesitated to report the incident, but after persuasion, they provided details. The husband mentioned that Bhagyavathi was deeply distressed by the prolonged non-payment of her salary.

Colleagues of Bhagyavathi revealed that the delay in salary disbursement had impacted multiple employees at the center. They explained that administrative changes and technical issues had caused the delay in payments. Despite assurances that the pending salaries would be processed soon, Bhagyavathi took her life before the situation could be resolved.

The investigation into the tragic event is currently ongoing as authorities work to uncover more details surrounding the circumstances leading to Bhagyavathi’s untimely death.
