27 Maoists, Including PLGA Members, Surrender in Chhattisgarh

Twenty-seven Maoists, including 10 women, gave themselves up to security forces in Sukma district, Chhattisgarh, on Tuesday. Among them were two hardcore members from the feared People’s Liberation Guerrilla Army (PLGA) Battalion-01, known to be a highly dangerous unit within the insurgency network.

The surrendered Maoists had rewards totaling Rs 50 lakh. The rewards ranged from 10 lakh for one individual, 8 lakh for three individuals, 3 lakh for one individual, 2 lakh for two individuals, and 1 lakh for nine individuals. Officials hailed the surrender as a significant operational achievement, highlighting the effectiveness of state policies and continuous security efforts in key Naxal-affected areas.

Regarding their roles within the organization, the group consisted of a member of the Chhattisgarh Yuva Committee (CYC), 15 party members, and 11 individuals affiliated with frontal organizations.

A senior officer remarked, “The surrender showcases the success of security measures and developmental projects in the region, marking a positive stride towards peace restoration and normalcy in affected regions.” Authorities have confirmed the identities of the surrendered Maoists and are enrolling them in rehabilitation schemes. This development is anticipated to undermine the operational capabilities of Naxal groups in Sukma and neighboring regions.

This mass surrender mirrors similar events across Chhattisgarh, indicating internal discord within the Maoist hierarchy. Security forces are maintaining close surveillance to uphold stability and prevent any potential resurgence in the area.
