“Pakistani PM Leads in Flattery Olympics with Trump”

If there was a competition for flattery at the highest level, Pakistan’s Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif would undoubtedly be the champion, earning a metaphorical gold medal. This perception was shared by former Pakistani ambassador to the US, Husain Haqqani, who humorously commented on Sharif’s consistent admiration for Donald Trump.

Haqqani took a light-hearted approach in response to Sharif’s recent display of praise towards Trump, suggesting that the Pakistani PM leads the pack in what could be considered the “Olympic Sport of flattering Trump.” This playful remark quickly gained attention.

The banter ensued after Sharif commended Trump for his significant contributions to global peace, particularly highlighting his involvement in various international agreements, including the recent Kuala Lumpur Peace Accord between Cambodia and Thailand.

In a public post, Haqqani quipped, “Pakistan’s PM still in the lead for Gold in what @FareedZakaria surmised might be the Olympic Sport of flattering Trump,” poking fun at Sharif’s repeated expressions of admiration for the former US president.

Sharif, on his end, hailed Trump for his pivotal role in advancing peace through initiatives like the KL Accord, the Gaza Peace Plan, and his unwavering efforts towards stability in the Middle East and South Asia. He credited Trump with potentially saving millions of lives globally through these peace efforts.

Furthermore, Sharif extended his congratulations to Cambodia and Thailand for signing the peace accord and commended Malaysian Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim for his dedication to fostering peace and unity in the region.

This is not the first instance where Sharif has publicly lauded Trump. Earlier, at the Peace Summit in Egypt, Sharif referred to Trump as “a man of peace” and revealed that Pakistan had once nominated him for the Nobel Peace Prize. Sharif emphasized Trump’s impact on bringing peace to South Asia, expressing genuine admiration for the former president’s leadership qualities.

In conclusion, the ongoing exchange of compliments between Sharif and Trump continues to draw attention, with each side recognizing the other’s efforts in promoting peace and diplomacy on the global stage.
