Apple is gearing up to enhance its AirPods with new Apple Intelligence AI features. Despite lagging behind Google and OpenAI in AI capabilities, Apple is reportedly set to introduce significant AI upgrades for AirPods.
A leak from an early iOS 26 build on an iPhone prototype hints at upcoming AI features for AirPods. Speculations suggest that AirPods could soon support Visual Look Up, a feature that identifies objects and landmarks through the iPhone camera or Photos app. Additionally, Contextual Reminders powered by AI may enable location-based prompts for users, enhancing convenience without constant phone checking.
The code also alludes to “ConversationBreakthroughVQA,” a feature with ambiguous details, possibly related to advanced notification management for AirPods. Reports indicate that these new Apple Intelligence features for AirPods could launch by Spring 2026, coinciding with Apple’s Siri revamp under a $1 billion deal with Google. However, it remains uncertain which features will be available across the AirPods range and which may be exclusive to AirPods Pro models.
