Apple subtly suggests that the standard MacBook Pro offers more than just hardware. It may seem contradictory to use “standard” and “Pro” together, but that’s how the MacBook Pro 14 is best described. Simply labeling it as the “MacBook Pro 14 with M5” falls short of capturing its essence. This laptop symbolizes a calm anticipation before significant advancements.
Traditionally, the MacBook Air and MacBook Pro were distinguished by raw power. If you needed robust performance, you opted for a Pro; for everyday tasks or study, an Air sufficed. However, with Apple Silicon and the 15-inch model, these lines have blurred. The MacBook Air is now formidable, and the top-tier Pros are powerhouse machines.
So, where does this leave the entry-level MacBook Pro? Contrary to expectations, the M5 MacBook Pro 14 caters to a specific power user segment. Whether you fit this category depends on your needs and budget – Apple aims to accommodate both. Priced at Rs 1,69,900, it offers access to premium hardware features like a superior display, versatile ports, and effective cooling, making it a competitive choice against heavier contenders. The laptop aims to balance portability with professional demands.
Impressive MacBook Pro Display
The standout feature of the M5 MacBook Pro compared to the Air is its display. Even the base Pro model boasts Apple’s top-tier Liquid Retina XDR technology using mini-LEDs. The visual difference is striking – deep blacks, vibrant colors, and professional-grade HDR performance with up to 1,600 nits peak brightness. Whether for color grading or immersive movie viewing, the contrast levels surpass those of the Air.
ProMotion, with its 120Hz refresh rate, enhances the user experience, making interactions smoother and more responsive. Once accustomed to 120Hz, reverting to a 60Hz display feels noticeably inferior.
