“Amit Shah to Inaugurate Rs 247 Cr MLA Housing Project in Gandhinagar”

Union Home Minister Amit Shah is scheduled to inaugurate a new housing project for Gujarat MLAs in Gandhinagar on Bhaibij (Bhai Dooj), coinciding with the Gujarati New Year. The project consists of 216 modern flats valued at Rs 247 crore, designed similarly to the contemporary residences of MPs in Delhi.

The previous MLA accommodations in Gandhinagar’s Sector 17 were demolished to pave the way for this new initiative. These new homes, inspired by the upgraded residences for MPs in Delhi, are outfitted with contemporary amenities.

The Sector 21 development, conceptualized five years ago due to the deteriorating state and lack of essential facilities in the old 1995 buildings, comprises 12 nine-storey towers spread across approximately 28,000 square meters.

Each flat offers three bedrooms, a living room, an office, a reading room, a servant’s room, and a dining room. Additionally, the public areas feature two gardens with seating arrangements, an auditorium, a community hall, a canteen, a modern health club, a children’s play zone, a park for senior citizens, an internet lounge, an indoor gaming zone, a yoga and aerobics space, a jogging track, and four entry/exit points.

The project received approval in the 2021 budget following requests from MLAs. Officials have confirmed that the new residences are now fully equipped with contemporary amenities.
