An elderly couple in Maharashtra’s Kolhapur district tragically lost their lives in a leopard attack that occurred on Saturday midnight near Kadvi Dam. The victims, identified as 75-year-old Nino Kank and 70-year-old Rukminibai Kank, were running a goat-rearing business and resided in a thatched shed beside the dam. While they were sleeping, a leopard attacked them, dragging both victims from their home. The assailant mauled the couple, with Nino Kank being pulled into the dam waters, resulting in their immediate demise.
The incident was reported to the authorities by villagers the next morning. A team comprising officials from the Shahuwadi Forest Department and Shahuwadi Police Station, headed by Forest Range Officer Ujwala Magdum and Police Inspector Vijay Gherde, visited the scene to conduct an assessment. Subsequently, the bodies were transported to Malkapur Rural Hospital for post-mortem examination.
