Reports indicate that tomato prices in Pakistan have reached approximately 600 Pakistani rupees ($2.13) per kilogram, marking a fivefold increase from their usual rate. This price hike has been attributed to the disruption in tomato supplies from Afghanistan.
Residents in Islamabad have expressed their concerns over the escalating tomato prices, with one individual highlighting the challenges faced due to the increased cost of this essential ingredient. The closure of trade routes between Pakistan and Afghanistan, which was a response to heightened tensions and clashes along the shared border, has resulted in significant financial losses for both nations.
