Rajasthan’s civil servant Chhotu Lal Sharma faced suspension by the state government following a publicized altercation with petrol pump staff in Bhilwara. In a viral video, Sharma, an RAS officer in Pratapgarh, was seen slapping a pump employee for allegedly refusing to refuel his vehicle promptly.
While the pump staff filed a complaint against Sharma, a woman claiming to be his wife, who was present during the incident, accused the pump staff of misconduct towards her, leading to Sharma’s reaction.
The incident led to the arrest of three pump employees named Deepak Mali, Prabhu Lal Kumawat, and Raja Sharma. The Rajasthan government issued an official order citing administrative reasons for Sharma’s suspension as per the Rajasthan Civil Services Rules.
Sharma’s controversial past came under scrutiny, highlighting his history of suspensions, legal issues, and domestic conflicts. Reports indicated that the altercation began when Sharma and a woman named Deepika Vyas, who alleged to be his spouse, visited the pump. Vyas later lodged a police complaint accusing a pump worker of inappropriate behavior towards her, triggering Sharma’s confrontation.
The situation escalated when the officer allegedly slapped a worker, leading to widespread social media outrage. Following the incident, three pump employees were arrested as police gathered evidence amid mutual accusations of assault.
Later revelations disclosed that Deepika Vyas, who filed as Sharma’s wife, was not legally married to him. Sources revealed Sharma’s legal wife as Poonam Sharma, who had previously filed a case against him and is reportedly struggling financially.
Sharma’s controversial career includes multiple removals from posts due to various incidents, including altercations and disciplinary actions. His past includes encounters with the law, such as the mining activities controversy in Jindal Shah Ltd and accusations of assaulting his peon in Tonk, resulting in his removal from the position.
