Just a day following the historic win of India’s women in the ICC Women’s ODI World Cup, the Punjab Cricket Association (PCA) has decided to honor its local champions. The board has declared cash rewards for captain Harmanpreet Kaur, all-rounder Amanjot Kaur, and the team’s fielding coach Munish Bali for their significant roles in India’s victorious campaign.
According to the announcement, Harmanpreet and Amanjot will each receive Rs 11 lakh, while Munish Bali will be given Rs 5 lakh for his contributions to the team’s success. The PCA has also confirmed plans for a special ceremony to celebrate the achievements of the trio.
Harmanpreet, a native of Moga, showcased exceptional leadership leading India to their first ODI World Cup triumph. Amanjot Kaur, the talented all-rounder from Punjab, impressed with consistent performances, and Bali’s coaching played a pivotal role in the team’s sharpness and discipline during crucial moments.
PCA President Amarjit Singh Mehta, along with honorary secretary (officiating) Siddhant Sharma, commended the trio’s efforts, emphasizing how their performances have not only brought pride to Punjab but to the entire Indian cricketing community.
Mehta stated, “The World Cup victory is a moment of immense pride for the nation, and we are especially thrilled that key contributors to this historic win are from Punjab. Their dedication and achievements have brought great glory to our state and Indian cricket.”
The PCA’s gesture comes shortly after the BCCI announced a cash prize of Rs 51 crore for the entire squad and support staff for the World Cup triumph in Navi Mumbai.
