“Anvay Dravid Earns Spot in India U-19 B Squad”

Anvay Dravid, son of former Indian cricket captain and coach Rahul Dravid, has secured a spot in India’s Under-19 B squad for an upcoming tri-series scheduled from November 17 to 30. The tournament, set to take place at the BCCI’s Centre of Excellence in Bengaluru, will also feature Afghanistan’s Under-19 team.

Anvay’s selection follows his consistent performance and progress in youth cricket competitions. Demonstrating his skills as a promising wicketkeeper-batsman, he has actively participated in various age-group tournaments and showcased exceptional abilities at the domestic junior level. Recently, Anvay led Karnataka in the Vinoo Mankad Trophy, earning the captaincy role due to his impressive form and composure. He was also named in the squad for the Under-19 Challenger Trophy in Hyderabad for November, although he has yet to play in that event.

The announcement of the squad highlighted the absence of Ayush Mhatre and Vaibhav Suryavanshi, two notable young talents. The BCCI explained that their non-inclusion was due to prior commitments. Mhatre is currently representing Mumbai in the ongoing Ranji Trophy, while Suryavanshi has been selected for the India A team competing in the Rising Stars Asia Cup. Their involvement in senior and A-team competitions underscores the strength of India’s youth cricket system, where standout performers often progress swiftly.

The forthcoming tri-series will provide a platform for coaches and selectors to evaluate emerging talents in preparation for future U-19 World Cup selections. For Anvay Dravid, this opportunity signifies another step forward in his steadily advancing career. Despite the weight of his family legacy, his recent displays indicate that he is forging his own path in the cricketing world.
