Pakistan’s Women’s World Cup Journey Ends Winless

Pakistan concluded their Women’s World Cup journey on a disappointing note as their final league match against Sri Lanka was abandoned due to rain at the R Premadasa Stadium in Colombo. The team failed to secure a single victory, making them the only team in the tournament to finish winless.

Currently positioned at seventh in the points table with three points and a net run rate of -0.58, Pakistan earned all their points from matches that were abandoned against Sri Lanka, Australia, and England. If Bangladesh manages to defeat India in their upcoming match on October 26 in Navi Mumbai, Pakistan will end up at the bottom of the table.

In a match that was of no consequence, Sri Lanka made two changes by introducing Dewmi Vihanga in place of Udeshika Prabodhani, while Pakistan included Syeda Aroob Shah and Eyman Fatima instead of Sidra Nawaz and Fatima Sana.

The final Women’s World Cup fixture between Pakistan and Sri Lanka was delayed by rain and eventually reduced to a 34-over match. Omaima Sohail and Muneeba Ali provided Pakistan with a solid start as Omaima struck a boundary off Sugandika Kumari. However, the match was interrupted by rain with Pakistan at 18 runs for no wickets in 4.2 overs, and despite a brief resumption of play, heavy rain led the umpires to call off the match at 8:06 PM local time.

Sri Lanka finished their campaign with five points and a net run rate of -1.035, securing one win in seven matches.
