OnePlus is gearing up for its upcoming launch event on December 17, with the focus on unveiling the new budget-friendly OnePlus Pad Go 2 tablet. While details about the tablet have been largely revealed, it represents a significant advancement in OnePlus’ budget product range, particularly targeting students and young professionals. The Pad Go 2 brings more than just cosmetic enhancements, promising notable upgrades in various aspects. Here are 5 key highlights of what to expect.
The OnePlus Pad Go 2 is set to be officially introduced in India on December 17, alongside the OnePlus 15R and Watch Lite, with sales commencing on December 18. Positioned as a capable yet affordable tablet, it aims to cater to value-conscious consumers seeking a reliable device for educational purposes, entertainment, and light productivity.
A major improvement is the tablet’s larger 12.1-inch display with a 2800 x 1980 resolution and 7:5 aspect ratio, ideal for tasks like reading, browsing, and multitasking. The Pad Go 2 boasts an 88.5% screen-to-body ratio and a peak brightness of 900 nits in high-brightness mode. With Dolby Vision support, there is a stronger emphasis on video streaming and visual quality compared to its predecessor.
Powered by the MediaTek Dimensity 7300-Ultra chipset, an upgrade from the previous Helio G99 chip, the Pad Go 2 promises enhanced performance for multitasking and running demanding applications. It will run on Android 16-based OxygenOS 16 out of the box, featuring an 8GB RAM configuration and TUV SUD certification for consistent performance over four years.
In terms of battery life, the Pad Go 2 comes equipped with a 10,050mAh battery supporting 33W SuperVOOC charging. Despite including a 45W charger in the package, charging speeds are capped at 33W. OnePlus claims users can enjoy up to 15 hours of video playback, 53 hours of music playback, and up to 60 days of standby time. Additionally, the tablet offers reverse wired charging functionality.
For the first time, the Pad Go series will support a stylus, introducing the Pad Go 2 Stylo with 4,096 pressure levels and fast charging capabilities. AI features such as AI Writer, AI Summary, AI Translation, and AI Recorder will be included, along with OnePlus’ Open Canvas multitasking system for smoother split-screen operations.
At launch, OnePlus will offer a Shadow Black 8GB/256GB variant with 5G support. While pricing details are yet to be disclosed, the tablet is anticipated to be priced below Rs 25,000, slightly higher than the original Pad Go’s starting price of Rs 19,999 due to the added features and enhancements.
