Richa Ghosh was warmly greeted in Siliguri, her hometown, after her significant role in India’s victory at the 2025 Women’s World Cup. The Cricket Association of Bengal is set to recognize her exceptional performances by presenting her with a gold-plated bat and ball.
Upon her return to Siliguri, 22-year-old Richa was welcomed with jubilant celebrations as fans filled the streets and playgrounds, drumming and lighting fireworks to applaud their local star.
Richa Ghosh showcased an impressive performance at the Women’s World Cup, establishing herself as a strong finisher and reliable wicketkeeper-batter for India. Her standout moment came in a group-stage match against South Africa, where she scored 94 runs off 77 balls, including 11 fours and four sixes, rescuing India from a challenging position.
This achievement made her the first woman in ODI history to score 80 or more runs batting at No. 8 or lower. Throughout the tournament, she accumulated 235 runs in eight innings at an average of 39.16 and a remarkable strike rate of 133.52, the highest among Indian batters. In the final, Ghosh once again delivered, contributing 34 runs off 24 balls as India secured their first Women’s World Cup title.
The Cricket Association of Bengal (CAB) announced that they will honor Richa with a specially crafted gold-plated bat and ball, signed by Sourav Ganguly and Jhulan Goswami, in recognition of her exceptional role in India’s historic World Cup triumph. CAB President Ganguly described the gesture as a token of appreciation for Richa’s remarkable contribution to Indian cricket, hoping it will inspire future cricketers in Bengal and beyond.
Since her international debut in the 2020 T20 World Cup final, Richa Ghosh has amassed 1,145 runs in 51 matches at an average of 29.35, showcasing her talent and determination on the global stage.
