“BCCI Mulls High Cash Prize for Indian Women’s Cricket World Cup Win”

The Indian women’s cricket team may be in for a significant reward if they make history at the ongoing ICC Women’s ODI World Cup 2025. Reports suggest that the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) is considering a cash prize similar to what the men’s team received after winning the T20 World Cup last year.

While the official announcement has not been made yet, discussions are underway within the BCCI. The board is committed to equal pay and recognition for both male and female cricketers.

An unnamed BCCI official stated, “The BCCI supports equal pay for men and women, and hence there is a lot of discussions that if our girls win the World Cup, the reward will not be anything less compared to the men’s global triumph. But it is not nice to announce before they win the Cup.”

In the past, the BCCI has acknowledged the achievements of the women’s team. Following their impressive performance in the 2017 ODI World Cup final where they narrowly lost to England, each player received Rs 50 lakh. The head coach at the time, Tushar Arothe, and other support staff members were also recognized for their efforts.

If the Indian women succeed this time, each player could potentially receive a reward ten times greater than before, setting a new record for cash incentives in Indian women’s cricket. The team is gearing up to face South Africa in the World Cup final at the DY Patil Stadium on Sunday, November 2, after a remarkable victory against Australia in the semifinals.

With high anticipation nationwide, the spotlight is on Harmanpreet and her squad as they strive to clinch India’s first-ever women’s World Cup title.
