Apple is reportedly developing a special iPhone to commemorate the 20th anniversary of the product in 2027. This upcoming device is expected to feature a revolutionary design with a focus on a seamless, bezel-free display and a sleek body structure. The anniversary model is envisioned to have a curved glass body without any visible cutouts on the front, aiming for an edge-to-edge display without notches or holes.
One of the standout features of this milestone iPhone is its bezel-free display that spans the entire front, providing users with a fully immersive screen experience. Apple is striving to achieve a design where the front of the phone appears clean and uninterrupted, possibly incorporating a slim metal band around the edges to house the buttons. Additionally, the front camera and Face ID are rumored to be placed beneath the display, ensuring a minimalist look.
Before the launch of the 20th-anniversary iPhone, Apple is reportedly planning to introduce under-display Face ID on the iPhone 18 Pro models in 2026. This technology will allow the front camera to be positioned in the top-left corner of the screen, eliminating the Dynamic Island feature. Moreover, Apple is said to be working on significant camera upgrades for the iPhone 18 Pro series, including a mechanical iris for variable aperture control in at least one rear camera.
The iPhone 18 Pro models are expected to debut in September 2026, while the 20th-anniversary iPhone is slated for release in September 2027. As these plans are still in the early stages, the final design and features may undergo changes. Nevertheless, if these reports hold true, Apple’s anniversary iPhone could represent a groundbreaking shift in the product’s evolution, bringing the concept of an all-screen iPhone closer to reality.
