Voice chat functionality with AI has been enhanced by OpenAI through an update to its ChatGPT platform. The integration of Voice mode directly into the main chat interface eliminates the need for users to switch to a separate screen when engaging with the chatbot. This update, available to all users after updating their ChatGPT app, allows for a more seamless and natural conversation flow.
Previously, ChatGPT’s voice mode required users to navigate to a dedicated voice interface, limiting their interaction options. With the new integrated voice interface, users can now converse with ChatGPT, view responses, and engage with visuals all within a single window.
The updated Voice mode supports all existing ChatGPT features, including the display of images and maps in real-time alongside generated responses. OpenAI stated, “You can talk, watch answers appear, review earlier messages, and see visuals like images or maps in real time.”
For users who prefer the older interface, OpenAI offers the option to revert to the separate voice mode by accessing Settings, selecting Voice Mode, and enabling “Separate mode.” This allows users to maintain a distinct layout for their voice and text interactions.
The new update aims to streamline user experience and make interactions more efficient for both smartphone and web users of ChatGPT.
