“Bihar Alliance Fractures as JMM Exits Mahagathbandhan”

The BJP criticized Congress leader Rahul Gandhi and RJD’s Tejashwi Yadav for the Jharkhand Mukti Morcha’s decision to withdraw from the Mahagathbandhan and run independently in the Bihar Assembly elections. BJP’s Amit Malviya emphasized that the breakup was due to the arrogance of top leaders like Rahul and Tejashwi. The Bihar BJP unit echoed these sentiments, highlighting the disintegration of the grand alliance as parties like JMM exit before the elections, raising concerns about post-election scenarios.

Bihar Deputy Chief Minister Samrat Choudhary also voiced concerns over the confusion within the Mahagathbandhan, citing internal conflicts among alliance candidates. The JMM’s announcement to contest the Bihar polls solo and reconsider its Jharkhand alliance post-elections further fueled the alliance’s instability.

JMM revealed plans to field candidates in six key constituencies for the upcoming elections and indicated a likely increase to 10 seats. The party also unveiled a list of 20 star campaigners, led by JMM president Hemant Soren. JMM’s general secretary Supriyo Bhattacharya emphasized the party’s determination to challenge and ensure the absence of a government in Bihar without JMM’s involvement.

The ongoing rift within the Mahagathbandhan, consisting of Congress, RJD, and Left parties, over seat-sharing issues has led to the emergence of rival candidates in several constituencies, exposing deep divisions within the coalition. Despite attempts by senior leaders to promote unity, the alliance remains fragmented.

The alliance talks faced further complications with the entry of Mukesh Sahani’s Vikassheel Insaan Party demanding a significant number of seats and the Deputy CM’s post. Additionally, the CPI(ML) rejected Tejashwi Yadav’s seat offer, pushing for more seats based on their recent electoral performance. Bihar’s Assembly elections are scheduled for November 6 and November 11, with the counting set for November 14.
