“Bomb Threats Rock Chennai: False Alarms at VIP Locations”

A bomb threat targeted Vice President CP Radhakrishnan’s residence in Chennai on Friday. The threat was sent via email to the Tamil Nadu DGP office. In response to the alert, a bomb squad and police teams quickly mobilized to conduct a thorough search at the Vice President’s home. Officials confirmed after the inspection that the threat was a false alarm.

Authorities are actively investigating the origin of the threatening email and are working to identify the individuals responsible for sending it. In a separate incident, a bomb threat email was received at the renowned music director Ilaiyaraaja’s studio in T Nagar, Chennai. The email, also forwarded to the Tamil Nadu DGP office, claimed the presence of an explosive device at the location.

Following the report, police teams and the Bomb Detection and Disposal Squad conducted a comprehensive search of Ilaiyaraaja’s studio and the surrounding area. Subsequent examination revealed no explosives, leading officials to classify the threat as a hoax. Last week, Chennai Police received a bomb threat call aimed at actor-politician Vijay’s residence in Neelangarai, Tamil Nadu. The caller, suspected to be from Kanyakumari, dialed the emergency number 100 and threatened to plant a bomb at Vijay’s home if he held any future public gatherings. Police later determined the threat to be unfounded.
