The Bombay High Court suggested that Shilpa Shetty could potentially serve as a witness against her husband, Raj Kundra, in a cheating and fraud case amounting to Rs 60 crore. This suggestion arose during a hearing where Shetty requested a temporary suspension of a Look-Out Circular (LOC) to travel to Los Angeles for work. Shetty’s lawyers explained that she had been invited to an event by popular YouTuber MrBeast and intended to travel from October 22 to 27 with her son, while her mother and daughter would stay in Mumbai with Kundra.
However, the complainant’s lawyers opposed the plea, highlighting Shetty’s previous request to travel to Colombo for leisure during the same dates. They questioned the absence of a formal work agreement to support her claim of a professional trip. The court, in response, suggested that Shetty could consider becoming an approver against Kundra, who is the primary accused in the case. An approver is an accused individual who agrees to testify against others in exchange for possible leniency.
Shetty’s travel plea remains pending as the court will revisit the matter on Thursday, October 16. Her lawyer emphasized her full cooperation with the investigation, stating that she is only linked to the case through her directorial position in one of Kundra’s companies and receiving funds from him. The cheating case involves allegations of fraudulent practices by Raj Kundra and his associates, deceiving investors, with an ongoing investigation.
