YouTube has introduced its inaugural YouTube Recap as the year 2025 wraps up, offering users a personalized summary of their top interests and viewing habits over the past year. Similar to Spotify Wrapped, this feature compiles your favorite late-night binge sessions, cooking tutorials, and comedy sketches. Launched in North America on December 2, the YouTube Recap is now becoming available to users in India and other regions.
While YouTube Music fans have enjoyed a Recap experience for some time, this marks the first occasion that the main YouTube platform provides users with a personalized year-in-review of their video consumption. According to the company, the Recap showcases users’ interests, deep dives, and memorable moments based on their watch history, following extensive testing and refinement processes.
Accessing your YouTube Recap is straightforward. Simply log in to your YouTube account on your Android, iPhone, or desktop browser, navigate to the ‘You’ tab on the homepage, and look for the ‘Your Recap is here’ banner. Alternatively, you can directly visit youtube.com/Recap to view your personalized summary.
Each user’s Recap includes interactive cards displaying their top channels, most-watched genres, and a visual timeline illustrating how their viewing patterns evolved throughout the year. Additionally, users will discover their unique “watch personality” based on the content they engaged with, such as The Sunshiner, The Wonder Seeker, The Connector, The Philosopher, or The Dreamer.
The Recap not only provides entertaining insights but also reflects how YouTube has influenced digital culture in 2025. For music enthusiasts, the feature showcases their Top Artists and Songs of the year, incorporating data from both YouTube and YouTube Music for a comprehensive overview of their viewing and listening preferences.
In addition to individual summaries, YouTube is releasing trend charts highlighting popular creators, podcasts, and songs of the year, offering a glimpse into the defining trends of 2025 on the platform. This initiative aims to engage creators and fans alike as they compare their personal Recaps with the broader platform trends.
YouTube’s venture into end-of-year storytelling aligns with the success of Spotify’s Wrapped and TikTok’s “Year on TikTok,” transforming watch history into a shareable experience to deepen user engagement. By personalizing the viewing experience and revealing the reasons behind user preferences, the Recap enhances the platform’s personal touch, making YouTube browsing more interactive and reflective.
As the feature rolls out globally, users in India can anticipate receiving their Recaps soon, reflecting on their 2025 experiences, whether spent mastering recipes, exploring gadget reviews, or delving into late-night trivia sessions. YouTube is set to remind users of their year, video by video.
