“Varun Aaron Criticizes Indian Team’s Decision to Bench Arshdeep Singh”

Former Indian fast bowler Varun Aaron has voiced his discontent with the Indian team management’s decision to once again sideline Arshdeep Singh in the second T20I against Australia. Despite the left-arm seamer’s exclusion and the preference for Harshit Rana, India suffered a defeat by four wickets, posting a meager 125 runs before Australia successfully chased down the target in just 13.2 overs.

Aaron emphasized the importance of having a wicket-taking bowler like Arshdeep Singh in the team, particularly in matches where early breakthroughs are crucial to building pressure on the opposition. He highlighted Arshdeep’s ability to exploit favorable conditions and create opportunities with the new ball, a skill that sets him apart as a valuable asset for the team.

Additionally, Aaron lauded Arshdeep’s proficiency as the team’s second-best bowler in death overs after Jasprit Bumrah, underscoring the necessity of including him in the playing XI. Despite acknowledging the management’s strategy to test Rana’s capabilities early in the series and assess bench strength, Aaron firmly advocated for Arshdeep’s consistent presence in the team due to his exceptional bowling prowess.

Arshdeep, boasting 101 wickets from 65 T20I innings at an impressive average of 18.76, has established himself as India’s leading wicket-taker in the format, with notable performances including two four-wicket hauls. Despite limited appearances in the Asia Cup 2025, Arshdeep remains a potent bowling option for India, and his potential inclusion in the upcoming matches could prove pivotal as the team aims to stage a comeback in the series against Australia.
