A tragic road accident on Chhoti Diwali resulted in the loss of life of Priyanka Yadav, a woman constable serving in the Unnao police department. Priyanka, who joined the force in 2013 and was stationed at Bangarmau police station, met with the fatal incident while returning from escorting a woman to the district hospital for a medical examination.
Reports from police authorities indicate that the accident occurred when Priyanka was riding as a pillion passenger on a motorcycle. The vehicle lost control near Jamaluddinpur village in the Safipur police station area, colliding with a road divider. Subsequently, Priyanka fell off the motorcycle, sustaining severe injuries. She was immediately taken to the district hospital, where medical personnel pronounced her dead upon arrival.
Hailing from Mau district, Priyanka was recognized by her colleagues for her committed work ethic and composed demeanor. Her sudden demise on the eve of Diwali brought a sense of sorrow among the police department members.
A solemn guard of honor was accorded to Priyanka at the Unnao Police Lines as senior officers, co-workers, and family members bid their emotional farewells. Superintendent of Police Jay Prakash Singh expressed profound sorrow at the loss, emphasizing, “We have lost a dedicated and diligent officer. The entire Uttar Pradesh Police force stands in solidarity with her family during this difficult time.”
In a show of reverence, all festive activities planned at the Police Lines for Diwali were called off in honor of the departed constable.
