Identified as Girish Naik, known online as u/ConceptPretty7717, he detailed his experience on the subreddit r/DevelopersIndia. Naik revealed that his college required the use of Google Cloud Platform (GCP) for projects. Despite only using it as instructed, he was shocked to receive a bill totaling Rs 98,940.76, with US collection agencies chasing him for payment failures.
Despite attempts to seek help from the college, Naik expressed frustration at their lack of response. This prompted him to turn to Reddit for advice, questioning the legitimacy of the charges and seeking guidance on disputing them.
Reddit users suggested reaching out to Google to request a waiver, citing similar instances with other service providers like Amazon Web Services (AWS). Some speculated that Naik might have overlooked a running service, a common mistake among developers engaging with cloud platforms.
