Reliance Jio has initiated a groundbreaking initiative to accelerate the adoption of artificial intelligence (AI) in India without any cost implications. The telecom giant has launched a highly anticipated offer providing eligible users with complimentary access to Google’s premium Gemini Pro plan, valued at approximately Rs 35,100. Initially teased in October, the offer is now being gradually introduced to select customers through the MyJio app, signaling the commencement of a nationwide rollout phase.
The collaboration between Jio and Google aims to deliver advanced AI capabilities to millions of users throughout India. Subscribers to Jio’s Unlimited 5G plans can benefit from 18 months of free access to the Gemini Pro plan, Google’s top-tier AI subscription, as part of this partnership.
The Gemini Pro plan encompasses various cutting-edge tools, such as the Gemini 2.5 Pro model for improved reasoning and creativity, Nano Banana for on-device AI tasks, and Veo 3.1 for next-generation video generation by Google. Additionally, users will receive 2TB of cloud storage through Google One, offering ample space for data storage, media content, and collaborative projects.
By combining its expansive 5G network with Google’s AI ecosystem, Jio aims to democratize advanced digital tools, making them more accessible to young professionals, creators, and students interested in exploring generative AI, who may have previously found the associated costs prohibitive.
The offer rollout is being conducted in phases, starting with users aged between 18 and 25 on the Unlimited 5G plans priced at Rs 349 or above. Some early recipients have already reported seeing a banner within the MyJio app indicating the activation of the Google Gemini Pro plan on their numbers.
Upon activation, subscribers can verify their membership via the Google One app, where it is listed as a managed plan under Jio, ensuring seamless access to Gemini Pro’s AI tools, workspace features, and enhanced productivity options linked to their Google accounts.
For users who have not yet received the offer, the activation process is straightforward once it becomes available. They need to access the MyJio app, click on the “Google Gemini” banner on the home screen, and proceed to “Know more” or “Claim now,” where they will be prompted to sign in with their Gmail ID to activate the benefit. Following confirmation, users will instantly unlock all Pro-tier features, receiving notifications through both Jio and Google One platforms.
Jio has clarified that eligibility is contingent upon maintaining an active Jio Unlimited 5G plan. Downgrading, plan expiration, or number porting may result in the automatic cancellation of the complimentary access. As the rollout is phased, users in different regions and age groups may experience delays before the offer becomes visible in their accounts.
