“Political Clash Erupts Over Foxconn Investment in Tamil Nadu”

A heated political dispute unfolded in Tamil Nadu as PMK leader Anbumani Ramadoss accused the DMK government of deceiving the public regarding a purported Rs 15,000 crore investment from Taiwanese tech giant Foxconn. Chief Minister MK Stalin had earlier announced that Foxconn had committed to investing the said amount in Tamil Nadu, creating 14,000 job opportunities, hailing it as a demonstration of the “Dravidian Model” in action.

Industries Minister TRB. Rajaa supported the government’s stance, emphasizing that the investment would enhance Tamil Nadu’s status as a prominent manufacturing center in South Asia.

However, Anbumani Ramadoss countered these claims by pointing out Foxconn’s statement clarifying that no fresh agreements or commitments were made during their meeting with the Chief Minister in Chennai. He took to social media to assert, “No discussions on new investments in Tamil Nadu; Foxconn denies any commitments. The DMK government’s falsehood exposed within hours.”

Accusing the DMK administration of deceit in industrial investment declarations, Anbumani alleged that the majority of the party’s investment proclamations were untrue. He demanded transparency by urging the release of a white paper detailing all investments during the party’s tenure. Furthermore, he highlighted Google’s decision to establish an AI hub in Andhra Pradesh as a missed opportunity for Tamil Nadu.

Responding to Anbumani’s claims, Industries Minister TRB Rajaa labeled them as a “politically motivated sabotage attempt.” He criticized the PMK leader, insinuating personal motives behind his actions and stating, “Certain individuals attempt to obstruct employment prospects for Tamil Nadu’s youth. The current individual is venting personal frustrations onto the state’s future.”

Rajaa reiterated that Foxconn had indeed made a “confirmed investment” following extensive negotiations. Dismissing Anbumani’s allegations as baseless and politically driven, he emphasized that the project received official confirmation only after the government was assured of its successful implementation.
