Former cricketer Mohammed Kaif suggests that in preparation for the IPL 2026 season, MS Dhoni may be willing to trade Ravindra Jadeja to acquire Sanju Samson from RR for CSK’s benefit. Speculations are rife about CSK potentially securing Samson by exchanging Jadeja and Sam Curran with RR. Kaif believes that Samson could be a suitable successor to Dhoni at CSK, with Dhoni’s primary aim being to lead CSK to victory once more. Despite Jadeja’s significant contribution to Chennai’s success in recent years, Kaif asserts that if sacrificing Jadeja is necessary for the team’s success, Dhoni would not hesitate to do so.
Kaif mentioned on his YouTube channel that Dhoni’s ultimate goal is to elevate CSK’s position after finishing 10th in the previous season. While acknowledging Dhoni’s loyalty to his teammates, Kaif emphasized that Dhoni’s main focus remains on winning championships. If Dhoni perceives a better option for the team, he would not hesitate to make the necessary decisions, even if it involves letting go of Jadeja.
Kaif also speculated that Samson might have had discussions with Dhoni, considering Dhoni’s pivotal role at CSK. He further suggested that Samson could potentially be the franchise’s future captain. With Samson’s style of play, Kaif believes he is well-suited to succeed in Chennai and could potentially slot in at No. 3 or 4, adding valuable firepower in the middle overs. Jadeja, a key figure in CSK’s past victories, including clinching three IPL titles and scoring the winning runs in the 2023 final against GT, may see a shift in his role if the speculated trade goes through.
