“Meta to Evaluate Employees Based on AI Impact by 2026”

Meta is set to incorporate artificial intelligence (AI) into its employee performance evaluations, emphasizing the importance of leveraging AI to enhance productivity. In an internal memo disclosed by Janelle Gale, Meta’s Head of People, the company will transition to evaluating staff based on their “AI-driven impact” starting in 2026. Every employee across various departments is expected to demonstrate how they utilize AI to optimize their work processes.

This initiative aligns with CEO Mark Zuckerberg’s strategy to transform Meta into an AI-centric organization, where AI is seamlessly integrated into products, operations, and personnel. Employees will be assessed on their ability to effectively utilize AI to achieve tangible outcomes and develop tools that boost efficiency. While AI metrics will not be formally included in performance evaluations until 2025, employees are encouraged to highlight their AI-driven successes in self-assessments.

Those who demonstrate exceptional AI-driven contributions, such as streamlining workflows or enhancing internal systems, may receive higher performance ratings or bonuses starting in 2026. To support this transition, Meta will introduce an AI Performance Assistant to aid employees in crafting reviews and feedback, integrating with internal AI tools like Metamate and external platforms such as Google’s Gemini.

Meta’s embrace of AI mirrors a broader trend among tech giants, with companies like Microsoft and Google emphasizing the necessity of AI adoption for operational excellence. Meta has been proactive in fostering an AI-centric culture, introducing innovations like AI-enabled coding interviews for job applicants and gamified programmes to boost employee engagement with AI systems.

As Meta continues its AI transformation journey, employees are expected to collaborate effectively with AI tools in their daily tasks, from writing emails to analyzing data. Success at Meta is increasingly tied to employees’ ability to leverage AI technology, reflecting the company’s commitment to an AI-native future. In Zuckerberg’s vision, the key to success lies in understanding one’s AI impact in driving the company forward.
