Investors who have applied for Meesho’s initial public offering (IPO) are anticipated to be able to check their allotment status later today as the basis of allotment is set to be finalized. The IPO witnessed robust demand across various investor categories, intensifying the competition for allocation.
Meesho’s IPO attracted significant interest from both retail and institutional investors, showcasing confidence in the company’s value-centric e-commerce model and its strong footprint in tier two and tier three cities. The public issue was oversubscribed, with substantial enthusiasm from retail, non-institutional, and qualified institutional buyer segments.
The offering comprised a combination of a fresh issue and offer-for-sale. Proceeds from the fresh issue are earmarked for enhancing logistics, upgrading technology, expanding customer base, and general corporate purposes, while the offer-for-sale facilitated an exit path for existing shareholders.
In the grey market, Meesho retains a premium, albeit slightly moderated over the weekend. The current grey market premium hovers around Rs 42, indicating a positive yet cautious outlook for listing compared to previous levels.
Upon finalization of the allotment, investors will have the option to verify their status through three official platforms. They can access the allotment result by visiting the website of KFin Technologies, the IPO’s registrar, and following the specified steps for verification. Similarly, investors can utilize the Bombay Stock Exchange (BSE) and the National Stock Exchange (NSE) platforms to check their allotment status.
If allotted, the shares will be credited to the demat account prior to listing. In the event of non-allotment, the blocked amount will be automatically released through the ASBA process. Meesho is expected to debut on the stock exchanges later in the week, pending the completion of refunds and share credits.
Originally established as a social commerce platform, Meesho facilitates direct connections between small sellers and customers through digital channels, evolving into one of India’s prominent value-driven online marketplaces. The company competes with established e-commerce entities by providing competitively priced products through a diverse supplier network and robust logistics infrastructure.
With the strong subscription response and a positive grey market signal, market participants anticipate active trading on the listing day, foreseeing heightened volatility as both short-term traders and long-term investors position themselves in the stock.
