“Iran’s Khamenei Mocks Trump Amid US ‘No Kings’ Protests”

Iran’s Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei ridiculed US President Donald Trump during the recent wave of “No Kings” protests in the US. Khamenei questioned Trump’s ability to manage the escalating demonstrations, urging him to calm the protesters and refrain from meddling in other countries’ affairs.

Organizers reported that around 7 million individuals took part in the nationwide ‘No Kings’ protests on October 18, spanning over 2,700 events across all 50 states. The protests aimed to denounce President Trump’s perceived threats to democracy, immigration policies, troop deployments in cities, and budget cuts to government programs.

Khamenei’s remarks followed his rejection of Trump’s offer for renewed talks. He criticized Trump’s approach to dealmaking, stating that coercion and predetermined outcomes do not constitute genuine negotiations but rather acts of imposition and bullying. Additionally, Khamenei dismissed the notion of direct talks with the US regarding Iran’s nuclear program, emphasizing Iran’s commitment to uranium enrichment.

The “No Kings” protests highlighted concerns among many Americans, particularly on the left, regarding Trump’s actions, including the prosecution of political opponents, immigration enforcement tactics, and the deployment of National Guard troops in cities. Critics have accused Trump of appointing inexperienced loyalists and pressuring the media, legal institutions, and educational establishments.

Some prominent Republicans have raised concerns about the potential for political violence in the aftermath of the protests, citing the killing of right-wing activist Charlie Kirk in September. House Speaker Mike Johnson referred to the ‘No Kings’ protests as the “hate America rally.”

The protests underscore a deepening divide in American society over Trump’s policies and leadership style.
