In honor of their outstanding performances during India’s historic victory in the ICC Women’s World Cup 2025, Renuka Singh Thakur from Himachal Pradesh and Kranti Gaud from Madhya Pradesh have each received a cash prize of Rs 1 crore from their respective state governments.
Himachal Pradesh Chief Minister Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu announced Renuka’s award, praising her significant role in India’s successful campaign. Renuka, hailing from Rohru in Shimla district, was instrumental in maintaining consistent pressure on opponents with her bowling skills throughout the tournament.
Kranti Gaud was awarded Rs 1 crore by Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Mohan Yadav, who hailed her as a pride of the state and the nation. Yadav recognized Gaud’s contribution to the team’s 52-run victory over South Africa in the final at DY Patil Stadium in Navi Mumbai.
Kranti Gaud stood out as a rising star for India in the Women’s World Cup, displaying exceptional control and consistency in her bowling. With nine wickets in eight matches, she was named Player of the Match in the group-stage encounter against Pakistan for her impressive figures of 3/20.
Before the World Cup, Gaud had already made headlines by taking six wickets in an ODI against England at Chester-le-Street, making her only the second Indian woman to achieve this feat. On the other hand, Renuka Singh showcased disciplined bowling performances with the new ball, creating early pressure on opponents with her accuracy, swing, and tight lines during the powerplay.
Both Gaud and Renuka played pivotal roles in India’s historic Women’s World Cup triumph, contributing crucial breakthroughs and strengthening the team’s bowling prowess.
