A 47-year-old guard from the Defence Security Corps (DSC) stationed at Sulur Airforce base near Coimbatore, Tamil Nadu, identified as Sanu, tragically took his own life on Sunday morning by shooting himself with an AK-103 rifle at approximately 6:10 am, as per officials’ reports. Sanu’s wife, Indulekha, filed a complaint stating that he had exhibited signs of mental distress after a recent visit to their hometown in Palakkad. Following a brief visit to a doctor who prescribed medication, Sanu reportedly stopped taking the prescribed treatment after just two days.
Upon resuming duty on October 12, Sanu allegedly expressed continued mental distress during a video call with his wife. The devastating news of his untimely death was relayed to Indulekha early Sunday. The Sulur Police have initiated an investigation into the incident and have registered a case under Section 194 BNSS.
