In Alwar, Rajasthan, a disturbing incident has come to light involving an Assistant Sub-Inspector (ASI) who is accused of attacking a street vendor and his son while demanding a bribe. The ASI, identified as Devi Sahay from NEB police station, reportedly showed up in plain clothes and demanded money from the vendor.
Reportedly, the ASI forcibly took Rs 5,000 from the vendor’s cash box, and when the vendor resisted, he allegedly slapped the vendor’s son, causing him to bleed from the mouth.
The entire altercation was captured on video by eyewitnesses and later circulated widely on social media, showing ASI Devi Sahay physically assaulting and verbally abusing the vendor.
The victim, Krishna Saini, stated, “When we mentioned leaving, the ASI struck my colleague Akash.” Saini further claimed that the officer took Rs 5,000 from the vendor’s cash box without consent.
In response to the viral video, several other street vendors congregated at the police station to protest and demand stringent action against the accused ASI. They lodged a formal complaint with the police, urging the immediate suspension of the ASI.
Authorities have confirmed that an investigation is in progress. An officer mentioned, “The authenticity of the viral video is being verified, and the complaint lodged by the shopkeepers is currently under review.”
