“Ajinkya Naik Elected President of Mumbai Cricket Association, Elections for Apex Council Roles Scheduled”

Ajinkya Naik has secured his position as the President of the Mumbai Cricket Association (MCA) as seven other candidates withdrew their nominations. The elections for other roles in the Apex Council and office bearers are scheduled for Wednesday. Despite being required to undergo a three-year cooling-off period after serving six consecutive years on the MCA Apex Council, Naik submitted his nomination. Notable candidates who withdrew from the race include BJP MLC Prasad Lad, Shiv Sena (UBT) MLC Milind Narvekar, and Nationalist Congress Party MLA Jitendra Awhad, all of whom had also served on the outgoing apex council. Naik, who became the youngest MCA president last year at 37, defeated Sanjay Naik by 107 votes. Awhad will compete against Navin Shetty for vice-president, and Unmesh Khanvilkar will face Shahalam Shaikh for the secretary position. Nilesh Bhosale will challenge Gaurav Payyade for joint secretary, while Arman Mallick and Surendra Shewale will vie for the treasurer role. Rajdip Gupta has been named governing council chairman of the T20 Mumbai League and owns the North Mumbai Panthers team.
