Shares of Kaynes Technology experienced a robust surge of over 9% during Tuesday’s trading session, marking a significant rebound following a challenging four-day period that saw the stock’s value plummet by nearly 30%. By 1:24 pm, Kaynes Technology shares were trading 9.08% higher at Rs 4,152.50 on the Bombay Stock Exchange (BSE).
The resurgence in the stock price was driven by bargain hunting and selective purchasing following a recent downturn triggered by a critical report from Kotak, which highlighted disclosure gaps and raised apprehensions regarding the company’s working capital position.
Kaynes has addressed the concerns raised in the report, which has contributed to a positive shift in sentiment towards the stock in the short term. However, technical analysts view the rebound as a temporary relief rally after the steep decline, cautioning that a double-top pattern formation still indicates potential downside risk if crucial support levels falter.
Despite the volatility, JPMorgan has adopted a more optimistic stance on the stock, considering Kaynes as the most cost-effective stock within its Asia Pacific coverage universe. The brokerage maintains an ‘Overweight’ rating on the stock, emphasizing that it is trading significantly below peer averages at 0.7x PEG. JPMorgan also highlighted the company’s solid core fundamentals despite concerns over stretched working capital.
Notably, Kaynes’ net working capital in the first half of FY26 stood at 116 days, primarily influenced by the smart meter business. The management anticipates a normalization of receivables over the next two quarters, with the smart meter segment’s revenue contribution expected to decrease from 28% in H1 to 11% in H2.
Even in a bear-case scenario, JPMorgan estimates a fair value of Rs 4,900, suggesting a potential upside of approximately 29% from the current levels. In Q1 FY26, Kaynes Technology reported a robust operational performance, with a consolidated net profit of Rs 74.6 crore, up from Rs 50.77 crore year-on-year, and a revenue increase of 33.6% to Rs 673.4 crore.
Furthermore, the company has diversified into the space sector through the establishment of Kaynes Space Technology Pvt Ltd, focusing on satellite development across various categories, expanding beyond its core electronics manufacturing services business.
While Tuesday’s rally offers immediate relief post a sharp correction, analysts are divided on the sustainability of the rebound. Although some long-term investors find the valuations attractive, technical indicators and ongoing concerns related to transparency and working capital management suggest a cautious approach.
The future trajectory of the stock will depend on its ability to reclaim key resistance levels and the management’s success in stabilizing the working capital cycle over the upcoming two quarters.
