After his retirement from playing in the early 2000s, Tom Moody embarked on his coaching journey as the head coach of the Western Australia cricket team in 2007. He later steered the Sri Lanka national cricket team to the final of the 2007 ICC Cricket World Cup during his tenure from 2005 to 2007. Moody then ventured into the Indian Premier League, coaching Kings XI Punjab (now Punjab Kings) from 2008 to 2010 before taking on the head coach role at Sunrisers Hyderabad in 2013. His leadership saw Sunrisers clinch the IPL title in 2016, and he rejoined the team as Director of Cricket in December 2020.
