“5.7 Magnitude Earthquake Hits Japan’s Hokkaido”

Japan’s northernmost island of Hokkaido was struck by a magnitude 5.7 earthquake as reported by the German Research Centre for Geosciences (GFZ) on Saturday. The earthquake occurred at a shallow depth of approximately 10 kilometers (6.2 miles).

There have been no immediate reports of injuries, damages, or disturbances. Japanese authorities have confirmed that no tsunami warnings were issued. Emergency teams are closely monitoring the situation and urging residents to remain vigilant yet composed.

In recent months, Hokkaido, an area known for seismic activity, has experienced multiple earthquakes. In June, a 5.7-magnitude earthquake hit off the coast, while a more intense 6.1-magnitude tremor occurred near Kushiro in May.
