“Congress MLA Accuses Caste Discrimination in Chembarambakkam Water Release”

Sriperumbudur’s Congress MLA and Tamil Nadu Congress President, Selvaperunthagai, has accused authorities of caste discrimination for failing to invite him to the release of excess water from the Chembarambakkam lake, located within his constituency.

After the initial rainfall, 500 cusecs of water were discharged from the Chembarambakkam reservoir. Selvaperunthagai, during his visit to the lake, criticized the officials for not notifying him or any other elected representatives about the discharge.

Expressing his discontent, Selvaperunthagai questioned the unilateral decision-making process, emphasizing the importance of involving people’s representatives in such matters. He highlighted his past involvement in informing the public about water releases and urged for better communication protocols to ensure public safety.

Furthermore, Selvaperunthagai raised concerns about the lack of transparency and alleged caste-based motives behind the exclusion of elected representatives from the event. He criticized the authorities for prioritizing rituals over essential communication with the concerned representatives, attributing such actions to caste-centric biases within the department.
