Rishabh Pant’s Masterful Fifty Guides India A Against South Africa A

Skipper Rishabh Pant showcased a masterful unbeaten half-century for India A against South Africa A in Bengaluru. His innings, filled with audacity, composure, and a stroke of luck, guided India A to 119 for four in pursuit of 275 on the penultimate day of the match.

Despite South Africa A being bowled out for 199 in their second innings after starting the day at 30 for no loss, India A still requires 166 runs to secure victory. Pant, with 64 runs off 81 balls including eight boundaries and two sixes, stood strong alongside Ayush Badoni (0)* at the crease by the end of the day’s play.

Coming in when India was struggling at 32 for three, Pant partnered with Rajat Patidar (28) to face the aggressive South African pacers who exploited the pitch’s pace and bounce. Their partnership of 77 runs for the fourth wicket stabilized India’s innings after a shaky start.

Tshepo Moreki and Okuhle Cele inflicted early blows for South Africa A. Moreki dismissed Ayush Mhatre and then had Sai Sudharsan leg-before, while Cele breached Devdutt Padikkal’s defense. However, Pant countered the attack with his signature style, showing confidence in pulling and lofting the ball for boundaries.

Despite facing some challenges, Pant reached a well-deserved fifty off 65 deliveries with a cover drive. Dealing with cramps later on, he maintained his focus and mixed aggression with calculated risks. On the other end, Patidar fought hard against the pace attack, finding his rhythm with some elegant drives before falling to a mistimed shot.

South Africa A’s strong overnight position crumbled due to aggressive batting and poor shot selection. They went from 30 for no loss to 128 for six before lunch, as Tanush Kotian (4/26) and Anshul Kamboj (3/39) dismantled their middle order. Zubayr Hamza’s brief counterattack was cut short by Manav Suthar, and Marques Ackerman’s dismissal summed up their lack of discipline.

Despite the collapse, the lower order added crucial runs, extending the lead and giving their bowlers a competitive target to defend. As Pant remains a pivotal figure for India A and the match hangs in the balance, the final day promises an intriguing battle between South Africa’s bowlers and Pant’s determination to lead India A to victory.
