“Death Sentence for Agra Child Murderers”

In Agra, a special POCSO court has handed down a death sentence to two individuals, Amit and Nikhil, for the abduction, sexual assault, and murder of a five-year-old girl in Farera village near Bah police station. Special Judge Sonika Chaudhary (ADJ-27) pronounced the verdict, emphasizing that the heinous nature of the crime warranted the severest punishment allowed by law.

The tragic incident occurred on March 18, 2024, when the young girl was playing by a canal close to her home. As stated by Assistant District Government Counsel (Crime) Subhash Giri, who, alongside colleague Vijeta Selwania, prosecuted the case, “The victim’s daughter was playing near the village canal when she was enticed by the accused, Amit and Nikhil, who then abducted her on a motorcycle. Subsequently, they subjected her to severe sexual assault, causing both natural and unnatural harm. Tragically, they inflicted numerous injuries on her body before brutally ending her life.”

Following the crime, on March 19, the perpetrators contacted the victim’s father and demanded a ransom of Rs 6 lakh. Giri explained, “Based on the information from that call, the suspects were apprehended on March 20 and 21. Subsequently, based on their confession, the victim’s body was recovered.”

Postmortem examination confirmed the sexual assault and multiple injuries. The police swiftly filed a chargesheet within 20-25 days, citing various sections of the Indian Penal Code, including kidnapping, murder, causing disappearance of evidence, and rape, along with relevant sections of the POCSO Act.

Giri expressed gratitude towards the court for the thorough trial process, stating, “The prosecution presented 18 witnesses whose testimony unequivocally established the guilt of the accused. After careful consideration of all evidence, the court handed down the death penalty to both culprits today.”

In response to the verdict, the victim’s mother expressed, “Had they not been held accountable, who knows how many more innocent individuals would have suffered?”

The article concludes with the acknowledgement of the publication details.
