“Google’s $15B AI Hub Sets Off Verbal Spat Among State Leaders”

Google’s recent announcement of a $15 billion investment to set up an artificial intelligence (AI) data center in Visakhapatnam, Andhra Pradesh, has sparked a verbal exchange between leaders from Andhra Pradesh and Karnataka.

In response to Karnataka IT Minister Priyank Kharge’s subtle jab, mentioning the importance of balanced budgets, Andhra Pradesh IT Minister Nara Lokesh highlighted the increasing liabilities of the neighboring state, emphasizing the need for financial stability.

Lokesh further asserted Andhra Pradesh’s growing stature by referring to the state as ‘Neighbour’s envy and Owner’s pride,’ in contrast to the criticisms from Karnataka about infrastructure and power issues.

Expressing pride in Andhra Pradesh’s progress, Lokesh emphasized the state’s efficient governance model, labeling it as a ‘double engine bullet train sarkar’ with a clear focus on rapid project delivery.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi commended Google’s initiative, hailing the AI hub in Visakhapatnam as a significant advancement towards democratizing technology in India. Modi highlighted the strategic value of the investment in enhancing India’s digital economy and reinforcing the nation’s global tech leadership position.
