The imminent launch of the OnePlus 15 in India is just around the corner, happening surprisingly in the same year as the debut of the OnePlus 13. Typically, OnePlus unveils new flagship models in the first quarter of each year, but the company’s approach seems to have shifted with this latest release. Shortly after its introduction in China, OnePlus revealed that the global market would see the OnePlus 15 in 2025, catching many off guard. What remains unsurprising is OnePlus’ strategy to unveil its premium device just before the official launch of other flagship models like the Oppo Find X9 series, iQOO 15, Realme GT 8 Pro, and others. This move indicates OnePlus’ intention to make an early impression and offer consumers an opportunity to experience its latest offering sooner rather than later.
Having had the chance to explore the OnePlus 15 smartphone ahead of its launch in India, we delved into its design and specifications. The new design iteration showcases flat sides, a departure from the curved frames of its predecessor, the OnePlus 13, launched earlier this year in India. Notable changes include an additional rear camera and a repositioned flash. Although the rear camera module still protrudes slightly, it doesn’t cause as much wobbling compared to larger modules found in other flagships. The Lavender color variant we reviewed exudes a captivating charm, while other color options offer a touch of sophistication. However, the omission of the Alert Slider might disappoint long-time OnePlus users, who now have a Plus button as an alternative for toggling between silent, vibrate, and sound modes.
Moving on to the specifications, the OnePlus 15 in China boasts a significant redesign and various enhancements aimed at boosting performance and user experience. The device features a sizable 6.78-inch AMOLED LTPO display with 1.5K resolution and a remarkable 165Hz refresh rate. Despite forgoing a QHD+ screen this time, OnePlus assures that the new display offers superior color accuracy and smoother transitions, thanks to LTPO technology that dynamically adjusts refresh rates. Moreover, the display can dim to 1 nit for comfortable use in low-light conditions without causing eye strain.
Despite housing a substantial 7,300mAh battery, the OnePlus 15 maintains a slim and lightweight profile, enhancing its overall appeal. Driving the device is Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 chipset, coupled with up to 16GB of RAM and 1TB of UFS storage. While the Chinese variant operates on ColorOS, the global version will feature OxygenOS, providing refined animations and a cleaner interface. The phone’s standout feature is expected to be its impressive battery life, with support for 120W wired charging and 50W wireless charging for those opting for a cable-free experience.
On the photography front, the OnePlus 15 is equipped with a triple 50MP camera setup, comprising a Sony primary sensor, an ultra-wide lens, and a 3.5x telephoto camera for sharper zoom capabilities. Despite the absence of Hasselblad branding, OnePlus promises enhanced color accuracy and improved night photography through its proprietary image tuning. The device’s 32MP front camera enables 4K 60fps video recording.
In terms of pricing, the OnePlus 15 is anticipated to be priced below Rs 70,000 in India, with an initial launch price of CNY 3,999 in China. OnePlus has hinted at a potential price reduction in India following the lower base price in China. The phone is scheduled to go on sale on November 13 at 8:00 PM, with additional offers including a special bundle with OnePlus Nord Buds and exclusive trade-in credits of up to Rs 4,000 for loyal customers.
