Xbox Cloud Gaming has officially launched in India, providing users the ability to play games on various devices through the cloud. The service is compatible with smartphones (Android and iOS), PCs (Windows, Mac, Chromebooks), as well as LG and Samsung smart TVs and the Amazon Fire TV Stick. Handheld devices will also be supported soon.
To access Xbox Cloud Gaming, users need an Xbox Game Pass subscription. All Game Pass tiers, including the Essential tier costing Rs 499 per month, offer cloud gaming access. A compatible device, a controller (wired or wireless, including Xbox Wireless or Sony Dualsense controllers), and a fast internet connection are all that users need to start playing. Some games also support touchscreen or keyboard gameplay.
A stable internet connection with a minimum download speed of 10mbps is recommended for seamless gameplay. Xbox recently showcased the service in India, indicating smooth gameplay experiences with titles like NFS Unbound and Hogwarts Legacy.
Players can log in with their Xbox account on Xbox.com/play to access a wide range of games available under Xbox Game Pass or stream their own games. Xbox Cloud Gaming’s launch in India is part of Microsoft’s commitment to the country’s gaming market, particularly targeting the younger, mobile-first audience. By offering cloud gaming, Microsoft aims to eliminate the need for high-end hardware, making major titles accessible on smartphones.
Microsoft plans to collaborate with retail giants like Samsung and LG to demonstrate Xbox Cloud Gaming in physical stores and work with content creators to highlight cloud gaming experiences. The company’s global expansion efforts include partnerships with Asus for the ROG Xbox Ally series and bringing the Xbox Fullscreen Experience to other handheld devices in the future.
