The Tirupati police in Andhra Pradesh have increased security measures in response to terrorist bomb threats directed towards the city. Bomb disposal teams have been placed on high alert, conducting thorough inspections at various locations after two suspicious emails were received.
The threatening emails implicated a plot involving Pakistan’s Inter-Services Intelligence (ISI) and former members of the Liberation Tigers of Tamil Eelam (LTTE) in Tamil Nadu. The messages warned of potential detonation of RDX explosives in four different areas of Tirupati.
Police have conducted extensive searches at locations such as the RTC bus stand, Srinivasam, Vishnu Niwasam, Kapilatheertham, and the Govindarajula Swamy temple. Security personnel also surveyed the judges’ residential complex and nearby court premises to ensure safety.
In anticipation of Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu’s upcoming visit to Tirupati on the 6th of the month, additional security checks were carried out at the Agricultural College helipad. Bomb disposal teams also inspected key religious sites, including the Tiruchanur Padmavati Ammavari temple, Tirumala, and Srikalahasti temples.
Authorities have advised the public to stay alert and report any suspicious activities as security operations continue throughout the city.
