“OpenAI Launches Sora Video App for Android Users”

OpenAI has recently introduced the Sora video application for Android users. With this app, individuals can now utilize the Sora 2 AI model to generate AI-powered videos. Initially launched on the Apple App Store, the app garnered significant user interest. Bill Peebles, the head of Sora at OpenAI, shared the news of the app’s Android release, currently accessible in specific regions such as the US, Canada, Taiwan, Thailand, and Vietnam.

OpenAI had been teasing an Android launch in recent weeks, hinting at upcoming app enhancements like video edits and pet cameos. The company also announced that new users in select countries, including the US, Canada, Japan, and South Korea, can now join Sora without requiring an invite code for a limited time, coinciding with the Android rollout.

The Sora AI video creation app boasts several features. Users can craft videos based on text prompts and incorporate friends or other users in their creations, provided they have opted for the cameo feature. Notably, well-known personalities like Shark Tank’s Mark Cuban have made their AI personas available for Sora videos. Additionally, users can include cameos of pets or objects in their videos. OpenAI has hinted at introducing a feature for users to earn money through the platform.

The app imposes limits on daily video creation: ChatGPT Pro subscribers can produce 100 videos per day, while other users, whether free or ChatGPT Plus, are limited to 30 videos daily. However, users have the option to purchase extra video tokens at $4 (approximately Rs 350) for every 10 videos. Furthermore, users can design character-based videos, though a group of Japanese publishers recently raised concerns to OpenAI regarding the use of Japanese content, including Ghibli art, in training the Sora AI model.
