The Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) plans to send a show-cause notice to its MLA Sangram Jagtap regarding his comments on Diwali shopping, announced Maharashtra’s Deputy Chief Minister Ajit Pawar on Saturday. Allegations surfaced that Jagtap had encouraged consumers to support only Hindu vendors and traders during the festive period. Representing the Ahmednagar constituency in the Assembly, Jagtap’s remarks were deemed inappropriate by Pawar, who emphasized that party guidelines must be upheld by all MLAs. Pawar stated that Jagtap will be issued a show-cause notice for his statements.
In further remarks, Pawar reflected on the previous harmony in Ahilyanagar (previously Ahmednagar) during the tenure of Arunkaka Jagtap, Sangram Jagtap’s late father. Pawar expressed concern over the perceived decline in behavior and responsibility among certain individuals who fail to uphold the legacy left by their fathers.
