Panic ensued in the Mahanagar area of Lucknow when a mule was discovered hanging from a tree near a park on Thursday. The incident gained immediate attention after a video circulated on social media, prompting locals to alert the authorities.
A swift response from the municipal team resulted in the retrieval of the mule’s carcass and the initiation of necessary procedures, followed by a police investigation. The mule’s carcass was first spotted near Laxman Park by residents who promptly informed the animal welfare organization, Aasra The Helping Hands.
Upon receiving the information, Charu Khare of the organization and her team rushed to the scene. They found the mule suspended from a tree with a cloth noose for approximately two hours. The NGO then contacted both the municipal authorities and the police to report the disturbing incident.
The Lucknow Municipal Corporation team promptly arrived, removed the noose, and took custody of the carcass. Charu Khare emphasized the organization’s call for action, stating that a complaint has been filed at the Mahanagar police station seeking charges of murder and animal cruelty against unknown individuals.
The police have initiated an investigation into what is being treated as a severe case of animal cruelty. An FIR has been lodged by the Mahanagar police under Section 11(1)(f) of the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals Act, 1960. Authorities are scrutinizing the circumstances of the incident and examining the viral social media content, which has generated significant public interest.
