India’s fast bowler, Mohammed Shami, has spoken out following his exclusion from the upcoming Australia tour. The men’s selection committee, led by Ajit Agarkar, decided not to include Shami in the ODI, T20I series against Australia, and the two-Test series against the West Indies.
Addressing the speculation surrounding his omission, Shami emphasized that his selection lies in the hands of the selection committee, coach, and captain. He acknowledged the questions about his fitness, with Chief Selector Agarkar previously mentioning Shami’s lack of domestic cricket as a factor in his non-selection.
On his YouTube channel, Shami reassured fans of his fitness, expressing readiness to play if called upon. He highlighted his form and rhythm, citing his recent participation in the Duleep Trophy for the East Zone where he bowled 34 overs.
Looking ahead, Shami is set to make a comeback in red-ball cricket with the Bengal team in the Ranji Trophy. He will lead the bowling attack alongside Akash Deep and Ishan Porel, aiming to further enhance his performance and readiness for future opportunities.
