Mehli Mistry has officially cut ties with the Tata Group, dispelling any rumors about his role in the Tata Trusts, according to sources cited by ANI. In a letter to all trustees, including Chairman Noel Tata, Mistry emphasized his commitment to Ratan N. Tata’s vision by ensuring the Tata Trusts remain free from controversy. He cautioned that internal disputes could harm the organization’s reputation in the long run.
Expressing a sentiment in line with Ratan Tata’s values, Mistry urged fellow trustees to prioritize transparency, good governance, and public interest. He parted ways with a quote from Mr. Tata emphasizing that no individual should overshadow the institution they serve.
Mistry’s term as trustee officially concluded on October 27. Despite a resolution passed by the Board of Trustees on October 17 the previous year to reinstate him as a lifetime trustee, the proposal did not progress, as approval was withheld for his reappointment to the Sir Dorabji Tata Trust and the Sir Ratan Tata Trust. Prior to this decision, Mistry had lodged a preemptive caveat with the Maharashtra Charity Commissioner, requesting a hearing before any changes to the trustees’ list.
